Subject to approval by the legislature, The BC government intends to implement a temporary BC First-Time New Home Buyers’ Bonus effective February 21, 2012 to March 31, 2013, the bonus is a one-time refundable personal income tax credit worth up to $10,000.

You will qualify as a first-time new home buyer if:

• You purchase or build an eligible new home located in BC;
• You, or for couples, you and your spouse or common laws partner, have never previously owned a primary residence;
• You file a 2011 BC resident personal income tax return, or if you move to BC after December 31, 2011, you file a 2012 BC resident personal income tax return (you will not be eligible for the bonus if you move to BC after December 31, 2012).
• You are eligible for the BC HST New Housing Rebate and
• You intend to live in the home as your primary residence.

The sun is shining, the flowers are in bloom and Spring is in the air! A vibrant green valley and a sparkling lake is not what this Calgary born and raised girl is used to!

I moved to Kelowna last June with the intentions of a small town, beach, sunny lifestyle and that is exactly what I have been living! The traffic is virtually non existent (in comparison) the weather is a dream (Calgary’s grass is still yet to be green), the golf, wineries and beaches are sure a great way to enjoy a vacation without leaving home!

It was a great move and decision on my part. Although overwhelming at first (every move usually is), change is great, especially in this case! And now I get to spend most of my days working at the award winning Discovery Centre in the heart of SOuth PAndosy, SOPA Square.
